![]() ![]() Good luck and let us know how you make out. Everyone seemed to be catching fish so I think you should do just fine. After that, I went to heavier leaders but did not get another bite on any of the other perch I set on the tip ups.ĭuring the time I was there, I saw maybe four other people fishing the lake. Not sure what it was - big cat, walleye or some pig bass perhaps. Whatever was on the other end came up off the bottom a few feet and then snapped the line. I reached down into the water and pulled the line to re-set it and felt some serious weight. I assumed that the perch had gotten excited and tripped the flag. A couple of feet of line had run off so I watched the reel for 30 seconds or so and nothing happened. About and hour later the flag popped but when I got to the tip up, the reel was absolutely still. We caught a ton of perch up to 12" and put a few gills on the ice plus a handful of decent largemouth as well. I don't remember the particulars of the locations I fished but I recall that we parked in a small lot with a tiny boat ramp and walked across to the other side of the lake to fish - maybe 200 yards or so. We did have beach badges and the info left by the owner advised us to keep the badges in possession in case we were stopped. The lake is private so that was the only time I ever fished it.
